National woman chess championship 2026

We are pleased to announce that the National Women's Chess Championship took place in Strassen from May 28 to May 31.
For the second year in a row, Chess Club Strassen organized this tournament, which was revived after a long break. We are delighted that women have the opportunity to compete in this serious sport and demonstrate a high level of play.
Congratulations to the championship winners!
đ„ 3rd place, the bronze medal, and a cash prize of âŹ70 were awarded to Valeria Golovkina (Schifflange).
đ„ 2nd place, the silver medal, and a cash prize of âŹ100 were awarded to Eva Pleim (Differdange).
đ„ 1st place, the gold medal, and a cash prize of âŹ180 were awarded to Samyukta Sivashankar (Differdange). In addition, she received a special prize of âŹ40 as the youngest participant in the tournament.
The awards were presented by Betty Welter-Gaul, President of Chess Club Strassen, Vice President Mukhamedieva Irina, and Philippe Putz, a member of the Chess Club Strassen competition team and a member of the Technical Committee of the Luxembourg Chess Federation (FLDE - FĂ©dĂ©ration Luxembourgeoise des Ăchecs). He also conveyed greetings from the Federationâs President, Olivier Jeitz.
All speakers expressed their gratitude to the Commune of Strassen and its Mayor, Nico Pundel, for their warm welcome and support, as well as their hope that the championship will be held again next year. Special thanks were also addressed to Chess Club Strassen for the excellent organization of the tournament.
The Chief Arbiter of the competition was Robert Ludwig.
