- (English and French) - The Individual Youth Championship took place in Differdange on 18-19+25-26 January. There was an exceptional attendance of 110 players with 6 age categories: Under 8, Under 10, Under 12, Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18. Here are the results:
U18 (7 participants)
Too few participants in this category, but logically, Michel Sadler clinched the 1st place with 5/6, followed by Matthew Dishan (4.5/6) and Nassim Bekkari who is only 12 years old (4/6). Boris fought hard in his first game lasting 4 hours, which he ended losing and drained him physically.

U16 (9 participants)
Again not enough participants here and only 5 rounds played. Francisz Waligora finished undefeated with 4.5/5, followed by Clara Burdot, aslo undefeated (4/5), and Jos Winkin taking third place with 3.5/5. Andrea Fraschetti and Tomas De la Fuente tried their best but the opposition proved tough.

Clean sheet for Louis Burdot: 5 games and 5 wins, followed by Lars Bouw (4/5) and Konstantin Basinas (4/5).

A fierce battle among the top 5 players. François Gérard and Nicolas Bourg played a 6th round which ended with a draw and has set the 1st and 2nd position. Yvan Burdot finished 3rd. The top 3 players finished undefeated ! Nice job from Ido Somekh finishing 10th (4/7), Zexiao Wang (3/7) and Ronald Goedert did as he could (2/7)

U10 (36 participants)
There was a rude battle between 6 players, and some very good games. At the end, Amine Bekkari logically dominated his opponents with 6/7. Luca Stan performed really well (despite his broken arm) (6/7), and Marcel Frydel (5/7) has shown great consistency. Adrien Devitt, from Strassen, finished 4th (5/7). Great performance from Anand Muralidharan (4.5/7), Aadhav Muralidharan (3.5/7), Vid Strong (3/7), Alejandra Raboso (3/7), Richard Goedert (3/7), Oliver Vajdic (2/7) and Bernard Goedert (1/7)

It was close until the end, with no players finishing undefeated, but at the end, it’s Damian Gatcan, from Chess Stars Roeser, who ended at the top, with 6/7, followed by Edgar Ney (6/7) and Helena Frydel (5.5/7). Fabulous job from Ojas Rai Schneider (4/7), Nicolas Raboso (4/7) and Viduyut Dhikavar (4/7) finishing 5th, 6th and 7th respectively.

For Strassen, it was just exceptional to see players experience their first “long” tournament. A lot of enthusiasm from everyone, lots of concentration, and defending their club’s colour with pride. Le championnat Individuel Jeunes s’est déroulé à Differdange les 18-19+25-26 Janvier. Pas moins de 110 joueurs étaient présents, divisés en 6 catégories: Moins de 18, Moins de 16, Moins de 14, Moins de 12, Moins de 10 et Moins de 8 ans. Les résultats sont les suivants:

Trop peu de participants malheureusement dans cette catégorie, mais c’est en toute logique que Michel Sadler s’impose avec 5/6, suivi de Matthew Dishan (4.5/6) et Nassim Bekkari, seulement 12 ans mais plein de maturité (4/6). Boris a dû batailler dès son premier tour avec un match de plus de 4 heures qu’il a fini par perdre et qui l’a affecté physiquement.

Là encore pas assez de participants et seules 5 rondes ont été jouées. Francisz Waligora finit le tournoi invaincu abec 4.5/5, suivi par Clara Burdot (4/5) également invaincue, et Jos Winkin prend la 3ème place avec 3.5/5. Andrea Fraschetti et Tomas de la Fuente ont fait de leur mieux face une opposition difficile.

Une rude bagarre à 5 joueurs. François Gerard et Nicolas Bourg se sont affrontés lors de la 6ème ronde qui a terminé par une partie nulle et a déterminé les positions finales. Yvan Burdot finit 3ème. Les 3 premiers finissent invaincus ! Beau travail d’Ido Somekh qui finit 10ème (4/7), Zexiao Wang (3/7) et Ronald Goedert a fait ce qu’il a pu (2/7).

Luca Stan finit 2ème malgré un bras cassé (6/7) et Marcel Frydel a montré une belle régularité (5/7). Adrien Devitt reste au pied du podium, 4ème, avec 5/7. La bagarre fut serrée jusqu’à la fin, et aucun joueur n’a fini invaincu. Mais à la fin c’est Damian Gatcan, de Chess Stars Roeser, qui remporte le titre avec 6/7, suivi par Edgar Ney (6/7) et Helena Frydel (5.5/7). Très belles performance de Ojas Rai Schneider (4/7), Nicolas Raboso (4/7) et Viduyut Dhikavar (4/7) qui finissent respectivement 5e, 6e, et 7e.

Pour notre club, ce fut un grand moment de voir autant de joueurs participer à leur premier tournoi de ce format, avec beaucoup d’enthousiasme et de concentration en portant fièrement les couleurs de leur club.
